Oregon State University, Office of Conferences and Special Events (OCSE) seeks a committed and experienced professional for the position of Conference Services Manager. The Conference Services Manager position is responsible for providing event coordination for large and small conferences on and off the OSU campus and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to attract new and continuing business. As part of the event coordination process, this position will be developing marketing plans including promotional brochures, website development and other promotional materials for select conferences and events. This position will also be responsible for developing financial plans and making budgetary decisions for conferences. In addition, the Conference Services Manager will assist the Conference and Event Marketing Manager in obtaining new business by providing leads, meeting with clients, assisting with sales presentations and creating new marketing materials. The Conference Services Manager position works with other OCSE staff, other department staff, students, and others to ensure that successful events are carried out. The Conference Services Manager reports to the Conference and Event Marketing Manager. The Conference Services Manager position is a fixed-term, 12 month appointment, with reappointment at the discretion of the Director of the Department.

The Office of Conferences and Special Events provides comprehensive planning and coordination services to on and off-campus groups for conferences and events held on and off campus to create a compelling learning experience and enhance OSU as a top-tier conference destination. The OCSE office also oversees the management of the LaSells Stewart Center, a 45,000 square foot conference, convention and performing arts center that serves over 100,000 guests and over 500 events annually. The OCSE office serves a diverse clientele, including OSU staff, faculty and student groups, Corvallis business and community groups, agencies from throughout the state, state and federal agencies and national organizations.

Qualifications: The minimum qualifications are: A BA/BS in a relevant field, a minimum of 3 years full time work experience in the hospitality industry in conference planning or similar field. Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Adobe PageMaker or Illustrator. Ability to relate well to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education and skills is required. Ability to work well is stressful, high pressure, high profile situations and excellent organizational skills.

Preferred qualifications include past experience in a collegiate conference setting, past supervisory experience, demonstrated professional growth in the hospitality industry, Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation, familiarity with Macromedia DreamWeaver and EMS (Event Management Systems), and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Remuneration: Salary is commensurate with experience. Expected salary range is $32,000 - $36, 000, plus excellent benefits package. Benefits include standard University/State package (retirement, health plan, dental plan, life insurance, vacation, sick leave, etc.).
