DIRECTOR OF STUDENT UNION AND CONFERENCE CENTER
SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY

Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) is one of seven universities in
the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System and provides a diverse
curriculum of liberal arts and selected professional programs to
approximately 3,000 on-campus students and numerous off-campus students.
SMSU is committed to fostering a global perspective.  The University has
been named the number one public comprehensive college - bachelor's
division - in the Midwest by US News & World Report for eight consecutive
years. SMSU is located in the city of Marshall (pop. 13,000), in southwest
Minnesota, 150 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul and 90 miles from Sioux
Falls, S.D.

SMSU is currently engaged in aggressive facilities renewal, including a
110,000 square foot, $18 Million renovation of our student union and
conference center.  The facilities were designed to be the gateway to the
campus for both students and the region. Designed within the student union
are ARAMARK dining services, Barnes and Noble campus bookstore, coffee shop,
video store, game room, art gallery, various offices, conference rooms and
lounge areas.  The attached two level conference facility is approximately
33,000 square feet and was designed for flexibility.  Moveable partition
walls, large staging kitchen, quality sound systems, and variable lighting
are some of the strengths of the facility.
