The University of Idaho is a constitutionally chartered
state land grant, Carnegie II Research institution with a strong mission in
research, graduate education, and liberal arts. With nine academic colleges and
a graduate college, the University has approximately 11,000 students, 2,250
employees on board appointment, and 3,840 student and other part time employees.
The University is responsible for a wide-range of statewide academic areas and
conducts several cooperative programs with Washington State University eight
miles west of Moscow.
Moscow, Idaho is located 90 miles south of Spokane, Washington, amid the rolling
hills of the Palouse country—a vibrant university community close to numerous
recreational areas. Its faculty and staff are dedicated people who provide
education, research, outreach activities, and support at the Moscow campus and
throughout Idaho. They are committed to providing service to students,
their parents, alumni, and their communities at large.
Position and Responsibilities
The Conferences Manager for the Department of Conferences,
Events, and Information Services (CEIS) works under the direction of the
Director of CEIS with the expressed goal of creating and implementing a
marketing program to attract conference groups to university facilities.
Additional duties include:
n Coordination of the planning, promotion, and
reporting activities required with the preparation of conferences, institutes,
and workshops;
n Designing, preparing and administering instruments to be used in the
evaluation of program activities and operational policies;
n Participating in the development of new conference programs;
n And rendering general administrative support services with office
operations.
Additionally, the Manager has managerial responsibility
for:
n Management of conference services;
n Management and maintenance of financial records;
n Management of conference staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Marketing, Public
Relations, or a related field, and 2 – 3 years of conference experience OR a
minimum of 5 (five) years of progressively responsible conference related
experience.
Excellent communications skills and organizational ability.
Ability to lead others in program related activities;
maintain effective professional relationships with clients and facility users,
work simultaneously on several projects with specific deadlines; work extended
hours with variable work schedules including evenings and weekends.
Computer experience in Windows, spreadsheets, databases,
word processing, and desktop publishing.
At least one year of supervisory experience
Previous experience will clearly demonstrate the following:
n Understanding of strategic marketing;
n Management of program growth (in terms of size, complexity, financial
materiality);
n Hospitality industry relationships/networking;
n Ability to integrate the activities of functional units to deliver
high-quality customer service in multiple locations;
n Successful management of relationships with superior, peer, and
subordinate staff.
Compensation
Salary Range: $32,178 - $43,857
Start Date
Position is available immediately.
