General Statement of Duties: The Division of Auxiliary Services is seeking to fill a full-time staff assistant position in University Conference Services. This position is responsible for managing a summer guest housing operation providing accommodations to conference guests by utilizing the UMass dormitory system of 42 buildings, with a capacity of approximately 11,500 bed spaces. Duties include the recruitment, training and supervision of front office, set-up crew and desk clerk staff, maintenance of financial records for the operation including all budgeting and billing, management of an inventory of linen, operating supplies and equipment needed to support the operation. During the non-summer period, this position is responsible for coordinating conference programs and special events. This position requires working many weekends and also requires evening and early morning hours as well as some holidays.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in appropriately related field and at least one year of experience within the hospitality industry and/or residence hall management. Bachelor’s degree in other areas will be considered only with the minimum of two-three years of experience within the hospitality industry and/or residence hall management. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of Excel and MS Word preferred. Working weekends, holidays, early morning and evenings required.
Hiring Salary Range: $31,300 to $40,300; Normal
Starting Range: $31,300 to $35,800.
