From University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV):
The Student Union & Event Services office at UNLV has experienced some personnel transitions.  Jennifer Oshiro has assumed a sales & marketing role and the newly hired Sheila Bray (sheila.bray@unlv.edu) was hired for Jennifer’s former role of conference & event coordinator.  Sheila was previously at Illinois State University.  Best of luck to Jennifer and Sheila as they tackle the challenges of their new roles!

From Sonja Hyde, assistant director, University of California (UC) Riverside Conference and Event Services:
The summer conference season at UC Riverside was productive this past year!  We managed to get through the heat without the help of our pool.  We creatively arranged the use of some apartment pools for a few groups, but it was not an easy task.  Busses were needed to transport clients in and around to the pools, and of course, with limited rest rooms and showers at these locations, it was hard to make everyone happy.  But a valiant effort was given by all involved.  The economy may have been down, but out spirits were up for the tasks at hand.   We were short career staff this summer, and are hoping to have our new conference coordinator hired and on-site by the end of February for the coming summer.  Another big change for us this coming year is our reporting structure.  We will be reporting to Dining Services prior to our summer conference season in 2010.  We are anticipating many changes as we move forward to the view of new horizons.
