Nominations for Regional Director-Elect Hello everyone – Summer is over and the academic year has started - don’t over look the email from Sherry Ebrahimi about the Region 9 Fall Summit, November 4 - 5 in Atlanta. Registrations are being accepted. We are looking for a good turn-out for this conference. Sherry as Regional Direct-Elect has put together a good schedule with strong programming for our Fall Summit – Thanks Sherry! But Sherry doesn’t remain RD-E forever. At the Annual Conference is March, I step down as Regional Director, Sherry becomes our new RD. We need a new RD-E. Click here for job descriptions for both RD-E and RD. After serving one year as RD-E, that person becomes our RD. Financial support from your institution is needed as the RD-E and RD are expected to attend Regional Summits and Annual Conferences, paying their own way to attend these conferences. The RD-E plans the Fall Summit and in most cases their school is the host for that meeting. Region 9 is currently accepting nominations for the RD-E. Nominations are due Friday, September 24 by 5:00pm and should be submitted to me via email at jim.hodges@duke.edu. ======================== JIM HODGES Fall Summit Greetings members of Region 9! The planning committee for the Region 9 fall summit are excited to invite you to register! The Fall Summit planning committee has been very busy finalizing details for our fall summit on November 4th and 5th. I wanted to send out a quick note to ask all of you who may be attending what kind of topics would be important for you to hear in our Educational sessions for fall summit. Take care, Sherry Ebrahimi Posted May 4, 2010 I am in negations to secure housing at our Emory Conference Center Hotel. I was able to get a $89 / night rate at our Emory Conference Center Hotel. Before I sign this contract with them letting them know how many rooms to block, can you write me if YOU KNOW you will be here, and how many rooms per institution? ( I know you all don’t bunk in together like we do here at Emory!) We will have a meeting on Wednesday night (November 3rd) for Orlando pre-planning, then the regular conference will begin Thursday, November 4th around 10 am, conclude late afternoon on the 5th. If I get a few of you to commit to staying in the hotel now, I’ll feel better about signing the contract to reserve the rooms. I just got off the phone with Jim Hodges, and we have tallied up your responses regarding the fall summit and have chosen November – November was much more popular from the over 20 folks who have responded. However, key people who need to be at the summit could not come the dates I first proposed….. SO, we have decided the dates will be Thursday, November 4th and Friday the 5th. There may be a meeting for those folks on the planning board for Orlando on Wednesday. We will send out more information soon regarding the summit, calls for proposals, hotel information, etc. We are EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT the Region 9 fall summit. I can’t wait to see everyone there!
