One of the most anticipated new facilities on the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul campus is finally open. The $66 million Anderson Student Center is home to 225,000 square feet of dining, retail, recreation, meeting and lounge spaces. A soft opening celebration was held on Tuesday, January 17th, and a formal dedication ceremony will be held later in the spring. Folks visiting the Anderson Student Center for the first time will notice venues with familiar names, and also a few new ones:
  • Food: There are three major dining areas: The View, a student dining center on the second floor, as well as T’s, a grill-like restaurant, and Scooter’s on the first floor. Coffee, smoothies and other beverages will be available at the Loft on the third floor.
  • Recreation: A four-lane bowling center and dance floor are located on the lower level. Pool tables and electronic darts are located in Scooter’s, and another first-floor area recreation named ’85 includes pingpong, foosball tables, and flat-screen TVs for video games.
  • Meeting rooms and offices: The Division of Student Affairs, Campus Ministry, Auxiliary Services, and student organizations and clubs are on the second and third levels. A large multi-purpose room named James B. Woulfe Alumni Hall on the third floor provides flexible space for dinners, concerts, dances, lectures, and other activities. A Hearth Room and 13 meeting rooms are on the second and third floors of the Summit wing.
  • Art: A permanent art gallery houses the American Museum of Asmat Art on the second floor. Space also is available throughout the building for student and other exhibits.
  • Stores: Tommie Shop, offering UST clothing and gear, and a convenience store named Summit Marketplace both are located on the first floor.
For more information, including a complete list of offices located in the building, visit the Anderson Student Center's website: http://www.stthomas.edu/asc/
