ACCED-I 45th Annual Conference Awards & Recognition Celebration held
March 24, 2025 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Outstanding New Conference and Events Professional AwardRachel Carroll, Florida Institute of Technology, was awarded the Outstanding New Conference and Events Professional Award. This prestigious award celebrates her exceptional contributions and outstanding work as a new professional in the collegiate conference and events field. Individuals nominated must have been in the profession no longer than three (3) years.

Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award: Single EventLoyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA received the Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award: Single Event. This award recognizes a significant achievement by an institution in the conference and events field for a single event (events can be in-person, hybrid, or virtual) this past year. This achievement should be of noted value to the entire collegiate conference and events profession and inspire new ways of approaching event management. Nominees should demonstrate significant innovation and measurable outcomes as well as a complete campus and/or community-wide effort.

Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award: Long-Term Process

University of Wisconsin-Madison located in Madison Wisconsin received the Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award: Long-Term Process. This award recognizes a significant achievement by an institution in the conference and events field for a long-term development/process that represents an outstanding milestone in the institution’s conference and events management. (e.g. new building, software usage, etc.). This achievement should be of noted value to the entire collegiate conference and events profession and contributes new ways of approaching event management.

Inclusive Excellence AwardThis year the Inclusive Excellence Award was presented to Colorado State University located in Fort Collins, CO. This award recognizes and celebrates a significant achievement by an individual or department in the conference and events field for exemplary efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion. This recognition can be demonstrated through collaboration and/or partnership with specific clients, development of processes to include DE&I in internal/external programs, or representing an outstanding milestone in the institution’s conference and events program.

Session of the Year Award
Daniel Dykstra, University of Colorado Boulder was awarded the Session of the Year Award based on his presentation, Data-Driven Decision Making and Reporting presented at the ACCED-I 44th Annual Conference in Providence, RI. To determine the award recipient, we consider several factors: the presenters' skills, how well the presentation aligned with the program description and learning objectives, the value perceived by the participants, and the session's attendance. The final decision is based on the evaluations completed by the session attendees.

Outstanding Mentor AwardThe Outstanding Mentor Award was given to Mary Kay Baker, CCEP, Lehigh University. Laura Bachman of Lehigh University accepted the award on Mary Kay's behalf. This award recognizes a member who has given their time and expertise to help other members as one of the following: a CCEP mentor; a resource in a specific area (i.e., strategic plans, marketing, budgeting, etc.); someone who takes the initiative and extends him or herself to welcome new or potential members to the Association; or someone who promotes involvement in the Association in their region and/or beyond.

Patrick Perfetto Volunteer of the Year AwardThe Patrick Perfetto Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Matthew D'Oyly, The Ohio State University. The Patrick Perfetto Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an ACCED-I member who contributes their time and talents to the Association at any level and/or to ACCED-I headquarters to significantly add value to the Association, its programs and services. The emphasis is on service rather than achievement.

Jack Thornton Distinguished Service AwardThe Jack Thornton Distinguished Service Award honors an individual for their exceptional service, dedication, and commitment to the collegiate conferencing profession and ACCED-I. A nominee must have a minimum of ten (10) years membership and service to ACCED-I, and should exhibit strong leadership, visionary and mentor qualities; possess strong professional ethics and principles; and contribute in positive ways to furthering the goals and objectives of ACCED-I. This year, the award was presented to Jason D. McClellan, MBA, MSF, CMP, Washington University in St. Louis in recognition of his outstanding contributions to ACCED-I.
