Greetings! Congratulations to those of you who have successfully closed out another summer camp/conference season….and for those of you still going – hang in there!
As the summer winds down (sad, but true!) and the summer camp and conference season closes, I hope everyone is taking time to re-group after the past few hectic months. Sometimes it seems like we are doing all we can just to keep our heads above water and there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done. In the midst of that chaos, I encourage you to be sure to take care of yourself – whether that includes getting in a workout (for those of you so inclined!), setting aside time with family or just taking a moment to shut your door and breathe. Self-care goes a long way to ensuring continued sanity!
One of the ways I enjoy re-energizing after a long summer is to begin looking at professional development opportunities that I will now have time for. The ACCED-I line-up of Educational Forums includes options in a variety of areas – high profile events, leadership and management skills, event management, staff development, and emergency management. I encourage everyone to consider attending one of these forums – not only for the learning opportunity, but also as a chance to re-connect with your ACCED-I colleagues – who also can be a source of information and support. There’s nothing like hearing from someone else “that happened to me too” and then engaging in a conversation about how it was handled from a different perspective. You can find the complete list of forums here
In March 2020, ACCED-I will celebrate our 40th anniversary and the Annual Conference will be taking place in Providence, RI. I can’t think of a better opportunity for professional development than spending four days with our colleagues, learning and connecting. I encourage everyone to consider attending. more
In closing, and in continuing my two article streak of including a video, this one is a personal favorite – and if you haven’t had a chance to enjoy Kid President before, take a minute to google him – you can thank me later! Yet another way to promote self-care is to take time to smile and laugh (and dance!)….Kid President always does that for me. watch video
Looking forward to seeing some of you this fall at one of the Educational Forums and at the Annual Conference in 2020!
