Happy September!!  I hope that you all enjoyed your summer whether it is your busiest season or your slowest. While September is the time when most of our members see their schedules wind down a bit, for most people, this is the time of year when we get back to our busy lives – and ACCED-I is no exception!  There’s so much going on and coming up that I am excited to tell you all about.

Have you heard about ACCED-I’s newest working committee?  The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee was formed to address the need to support underserved and marginalized identities of Association members, provide recommendations and specific action steps, and to operationalize the ACCED- I statement on diversity, equity, and inclusion.  The committee meets on a monthly basis and has formed several sub-committees to work on sourcing and creating resource documents for the ACCED-I e-library, to provide content and topic subjects for local and regional events, to create a mentorship program for Association members, and to plan get-togethers and promote DE&I programming for the Annual Conference.  This enthusiastic group is making a difference in the Association!  Want to join them?  You can sign up to be a member here.

This year’s Educational Forums are starting!  This year we have five exceptional topics at five member campuses starting in mid-September and going through January.  If you haven’t had a chance to attend one, registration is open now.  Don’t miss the chance to attend a day and a half focused educational experience!  Check them out here.

Since we are on the topic of education, we hope that you will take the opportunity to submit a proposal for the 40th ACCED-I Annual Conference in 2020.  Submissions are being accepted now!  Need some help with topic ideas?  Take a look at our suggestions for each track.  New this year are suggestions for diversity, equity, and inclusion topics. Share your knowledge and expertise with fellow members – we hope to see you in Providence! View session tracks here.

Looking for ways to connect with other members?  Our Communities of Practice are always available for you to post a question or ask for assistance.  We recently expanded our membership directory to make it easier to find members. We’ve included additional search fields that specify more individual responsibilities and institution type.  Update your profile by logging in to your account today.

I wish you all a happy and safe start to fall!

With best regards,
