I hope this, my first letter of the new year, finds you all enjoying the year. As we look forward to all of the exciting events ahead of us in 2020, I hope you’ll allow me a few minutes to recap the highlights from 2019. It was a great year for our Association, and I am immensely grateful to the staff, Board of Directors, and member volunteers that worked to make such great progress.
Created our ACCED-I Connections lead program for all members and promoted it to event planners and organizations throughout the US
Added the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and through their work we will award the Inclusive Excellence Award for the first time at the Annual Conference in March
Hosted a successful Annual Conference in Pittsburgh with 429 attendees and over 35 exhibitors
Continued our Educational Forums for the fourth year – bringing new, relevant professional development topics to our members
Offered a scholarship to each region for the Educational Forums and Annual Conference
Reformatted our Benchmarking Survey and reissued the yearly Salary Survey for members
Provided recordings of our top-rated Annual Conference sessions for members on our website
Surveyed members for more demographic information and expanded our directory search capacity to increase member networking opportunities
Revised our CCEP workbook to reflect the latest changes in the CAS Standards
Updated Corporate Member benefits to maximize exposure and add value to membership
Looking to the year ahead, we have a lot planned!
Preparing to welcome many of you to our 40th Annual Conference in Providence, Rhode Island
We are already planning our next round of Educational Forums for this fall – stay tuned for more information
This spring, we’ll be offering recordings of Educational Forum sessions on our website
We’ve started the “Share Your Story” program – giving our members a chance to share their successes, experience, and insights
To further our strategic plan, we are always working to increase member engagement and bring value to the membership and more visibility to our industry
To celebrate our 40th year, we will be posting archive photos, newsletters, and educational recordings on our website
I’m excited for what lies ahead this year and I hope to connect with many of you at the Annual Conference just a few weeks away! As always, we welcome your feedback – please feel free to contact me directly with your questions or thoughts.
