Executive Director's Message
Friday, September 25, 2020
Leaves falling, temperatures dropping, Monday Night Football on TV, pumpkin spice everything – fall is here!
Although this isn’t quite the fall I was hoping for or the fall that anyone was expecting, there are a few constants here at ACCED-I that help with all the uncertainty.
Our Conference Call Series is continuing with some great upcoming topics: Evolving Professional/Student Staff Responsibilities, Pop-Up Polling and Events, Fall Commencement Plans, Managing Quarantine/Isolation Housing, Contract Tracing and Waivers, Maintaining Partner Relationships Remotely, Housing Students Between Semesters, and Summer 2021 Outlook. We hope that you will take advantage of this free member benefit to network with your peers and share ideas. If you have missed one of the past calls, all recordings are available on the ACCED-I website.
Our Educational Forums are virtual this year but still providing a quality professional development experience. Upcoming topics for the forums are Event Management, Event Technology, Housing, and Surviving COVID 19. Recordings are also available for all past forums and information can be found on the website.
In the spirit of sharing information, our sister organization in Canada, CUCCOA, has offered access to their Annual Conference – held virtually this year – for just $50. You can find information about their program here (https://cuccoa.org/conference) and the code for the discounted registration fee is ACCED-I.
What I hear from a lot of people as we hang up the phone or end a Zoom call is “hang in there”. It always makes me smile because “hanging in there” is about all I’ve done since March. But it also makes me smile because it’s a small way to pass on support and encouragement to each other, to cheer each other on. So I hope you are all hanging in there and that we all continue to hang in there together.
With best regards,
Karen L. Nedbal is Executive Director of ACCED-I. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or (970) 449-4960.
