Region 1 serves collegiate conference and events professionals in Alaska, Alberta, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Yukon Territory.

In October 2017, a Cal State Fullerton student organization hosted controversial speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos on campus. Learn from CSUF employees about the steps they took to plan for the event, how they educated the general university population on free speech, and hear their tips for facilitating high profile events on your campus. Participants will have a chance to engage with collegiate conferencing and event professionals from around the area/region and learn more about hate crime and acts on bias on college campuses.

Continental breakfast and lunch are provided in the registration cost.

• 9:15 am – 10:15 am : Working with Student Organizations and Educating students on free speech

• 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Anti-defamation League Presentation (Hate Crime and Acts of Bias on College Campuses)

What's Happening Around the Region

Region 1 News

The University of Utah is expanding our Guest House Hotel. Thirty additional rooms with kitchenettes, a new 3000 sq ft ballroom, and a 3200 sq ft outdoor plaza. Plus we will be remodeling our lobby, enlarging our breakfast area!
CU Denver just did our dedication ceremony for our new wellness center yesterday!  All the deets are on our Facebook University of Colorado Denver.  It's our first named building on campus.
University of Colorado Denver will be hosting a Region 1 Drive-In on November 8, 2018 in Downtown Denver, CO. Mark your calendars and watch for information in early September!
New Leadership for Region 1
Heather Rappaport has resigned as Regional Director for Region 1. She has accepted a new position at UNLV outside of the conference and events industry. We appreciate all of Heather’s hard work and wish her the best of luck in her new position.
We are pleased to announce that Matt Jauregui, CCEP, has accepted the Regional Director position effective immediately. Matt is Associate Director, Conference & Event Services at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. He served previously as a regional leader from 2014-2017.

Leo Young to Join Staff at California State University, Fullerton
Leo Young is leaving his role as Conference Coordinator for University Housing Services at San José State University. Starting July 30, 2018, Leo will begin working for Associated Student Inc. at California State University, Fullerton as the Conference and Meeting Services Manager. Leo is excited to be managing the University Conference Center in the Student Union. He will proudly continue representing Region 1 as Regional Director Elect in his new role.
