Region 2 Virtual Roundtable | July 16, 2020 | 4:00PM ET / 3:00PM CT
You're invited to join the membership of ACCED-I Region 2 for a virtual roundtable discussion. Please register no later than Noon on Monday, July 13th.
Based on your responses and suggestions, the Region 2 leadership team will identify 2 or 3 prevailing topic areas for us to discuss. We will split our time, spending 15-20 minutes on each topic, with an open conversation between members.

The University of Texas at Tyler hosts Drive-In on November 22nd
Join The University of Texas at Tyler for an interactive day of learning at their first ACCED-I Drive-In! For the morning session, our professionals will give guided discussions on how they handle campus-wide events and help college departments price camps/conferences. After a relaxed networking lunch, attendees will head into round table discussion groups to discuss hot topics within the collegiate event planning industry. Each round table will have a moderator to help guide the conversation and take notes to disseminate once the Drive-In has concluded. We look forward to hosting ACCED-I members and non-members on our campus for this learning opportunity.

UTSA now has a centralized event system!
Nikki Lee and Andrea Brown were on the team who lead the charge to centralize the event process at The University of Texas at San Antonio. They won the President’s Team Award for this initiative. Congratulations to their entire Events Management team for being a part of this huge initiative for a four campus institution.
Regional Leadership Changes
Our Immediate Past Region 2 Director, Sravanthi Meka will be leaving Georgia Tech and ACCED-I to continue her marketing career with a local video creative agency. We thank her for all of the commitment and fun she brought to our association. We wish her all the best and will miss her greatly!
Amy Sanders, Director of Conference & Camp Services at Appalachian State University will be stepping in for Sravanthi Meka. She formerly served as both a Regional Director and Action Team Chair. We thank Amy for her willingness to serve the remainder of the Immediate Past Regional Director position.
Drew Elisabeth Ard Awarded Outstanding New Conference and Events Professional
Drew has been an Event Manager at the University of Kentucky since December 2017, and assumed additional responsibilities during a time of transition for the department. While taking on these extra duties, she managed over 10,000 events, oversaw Greek recruitment events and helped to develop a digital map for outdoor reservable spaces with the university’s GIS unit.
Region 2 Members Earn CCEP Designation
Carly Burt, CCEP and Michele Payne, CCEP received their CCEP designations at the 39th Annual Conference in Pittsburgh.
Carly Burt, CCEP, serves as Assistant Director - Office of Conferences at Vanderbilt University.
Michele Payne, CCEP, is the Director of Special Events and Continuing Legal Education at the University of Arkansas School of Law. Payne has been in the conference and events profession for 13 years and in her current position for six. She has been a member of ACCED-I since 2010.
"I completed my professional certification because I knew it would make me a more efficient and thorough planner and allow me to better serve the University of Arkansas and School of Law," Payne said. "I am honored to receive this recognition from my peers and look forward to using the knowledge I've gained through this process to tackle new challenges with enthusiasm, confidence and proficiency." more
University of Miami:
The University of Miami Office of Conference Services has new construction and new staff to brag about. Andres Reid is now on board as the Event & Conference Management Software Coordinator. “Andres is a recent graduate from the University of Miami with a degree in Business Technology and we are very excited to have Andres onboard with us,” said Richie Kenney, Director of Conference Services, University of Miami.

Tara Rappleye has been promoted to Assistant Director for Duke Conference and Event Services. She oversees summer programs and works to build registration websites. As an undergraduate she was an intern in the Hope College Events Office and was a Conference Assistant.
Stephanie Green has accepted the position as Assistant Manager for Duke Conference and Event Services. She will manage summer housing along with hiring and training student employees – summer term staff for conferences and the academic team that works with events.
Both will attend their first ACCED-I Annual Conference in Pittsburgh.
