ACCED-I 40th Annual Conference Update

This morning the ACCED-I Board of Directors met and, after much deliberation, made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 ACCED-I Annual Conference. This decision was made after careful consideration of the fluid situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus, member travel and budgetary concerns, and potential impact to Association finances.

With regard to registrations, you can rollover your registration to apply to the 2021 ACCED-I Annual Conference in Albuquerque (March 21-24, 2021) or request a refund. Refunds requested for registrations made by credit card will be made minus a $25 credit card transaction fee. Please let us know your choice by filling out this form:

The hotels in Providence have been notified and have cancelled all attendee reservations in our room block. If you are booked in our block at either The Omni Providence or The Graduate Providence, no further action is required on your part.

It’s been a tough start to the year for all of us, no doubt. We are making plans to put some aspects of the Annual Conference online – more details to come in the following weeks. Additionally, we are exploring ways to bring more educational and professional development resources to our members both online and in person. We remain committed to providing our members with valuable resources and networking opportunities to help us all through both the good and difficult times.

Stay tuned to the website and Connect for timely information and further resources to help deal with your current situation. Please contact us with any questions and again, thank you for your continued support.

ACCED-I 2020 Annual Conference Update

In light of the continued global spread of COVID-19, the many state and institutional travel bans, and the decision yesterday afternoon by the Rhode Island Governor discouraging all meetings over 250 people, we are unable to  hold our 40th Annual Conference in Providence on March 29 – 31 as planned.  The ACCED-I Board of Directors will meet this week to decide if the meeting can be rescheduled later in the year or will be cancelled.  Once the decision is made it will be communicated to the membership immediately. Thank you all for your patience and support throughout this unprecedented situation.

With best regards,

Karen L. Nedbal

Message from the Executive Director

We are a little over three weeks away from the ACCED-I 40th Annual Conference and our team is working hard to make this a successful conference. From the exceptional programming, robust exhibit hall, exciting keynotes, and fun 80’s closing party, we are looking forward to welcoming you all to Providence, Rhode Island.

We want to address the ongoing situation with the coronavirus. The health and safety of our staff, event attendees, and exhibitors is our highest priority. As we continue to monitor guidance related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other organizations, we are committed to taking appropriate precautions to provide a safe environment that does not place our staff or event attendees at undue risk. At this time, the CDC has not indicated in any way that organizations in the United States should consider postponing or canceling events.  Absent federal travel restrictions and/or local, state, or regional decisions to close venues, ACCED-I has not cancelled our Annual Conference. Our cancellation policy remains in effect.

As a precautionary measure, ACCED-I is actively working with all conference venues to increase sanitization practices and healthy habits for all events. For more information on best practices for prevention, please visit the CDC coronavirus (COVID-19) web page.

Given the evolving nature of COVID-19, ACCED-I will continue to closely monitor developments. In addition to safeguarding the health and safety of our event attendees and employees, we remain committed to providing clear and timely communications leading up to and at our events. Should we receive information from the CDC that would prompt us to make adjustments to our event schedule, we will immediately notify all impacted parties via email and post regular updates on our website.

With best regards,
Karen
