Award Nomination Guidelines

You may nominate an individual or an institution in one of the following categories:

• Jack Thornton Distinguished Service Award

• Outstanding Individual Achievement Award

• Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award

     - Single event
     - Long-term process

• Outstanding New Conference and Events Professional Award

• Mentor of the Year Award

Describe the service to ACCED-I and the profession made by the nominee.

• Outstanding Individual Achievement Award
Describe the achievement being considered for this award.

• Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award
Describe the achievement being considered for this award. Please indicate whether nomination is for a single event or a long-term process.

• Outstanding New Conference and Events Professional Award
Describe the outstanding contributions this person has made to the conference and events profession and/or to ACCED-I. Please include original employment date in the conference and events field.

• Mentor of the Year Award
Describe the achievement/service being considered for this award.

• Please limit nominations to no more than three typed pages. In the case of institutional achievement award, one photo only is allowed. No videos will be accepted.

PROCESS AND RECOGNITION

Nominations for all award categories should include the following information:

  • Nominee information:  name, title, institution, address, city, state, postal code, telephone number, email address
  • Nominator information:  name, title, institution, address, city, state, postal code, telephone number, email address
  • Award category
  • Describe the service, achievement, outstanding contributions and why this person deserves this recognition

Members of the Nominations and Recognition Action Team are ineligible to make a nomination for the awards categories.

Current Board members are ineligible for award nomination during their term with noted exceptions.

The Nominations and Recognition Committee will review nominations and determine award recipients. Presentation of awards will be made during the awards program at the ACCED-I Annual Conference. All candidates will be notified of nominations prior to the Annual Conference. It is not necessary to be present to receive an award.

Regardless of the number of nomination submissions received, the committee reserves the right not to select an award recipient in any category if the nominees’ credentials do not meet the qualifications or criteria for the award.

Award recipients will receive a keepsake to commemorate their achievement.

Award recipients will receive a press release recognizing their achievement following the ACCED-I Annual Conference.  Individualized press releases will be created and emailed to those indicated by the recipient. In addition, a letter will be mailed to the award recipient's supervisor.
